Fashion Africa 254 was born from Waridi-Wardah’s extensive experience working with and consulting designers on the continent since 2008. Addressing the gap in the industry, our mission is to equip designers with the necessary tools and knowledge to understand the glamorous yet challenging world of fashion before stepping into it. Being unique, professional, and having an added touch of luck can make a difference in this industry.

Waridi-Wardah has been actively involved with HAWF since 2014, contributing her expertise in various capacities. As an advisor to HAFW, she has played a key role in shaping the event’s concept and curating designers for the show alongside the team. Additionally, she has been instrumental in designing and implementing the Mentorship Program. This program aims to bridge the gap between aspiring designers and fashion design experts, fostering knowledge exchange and nurturing the next generation of leaders in the fashion industry.

Waridi-Wardah’s remarkable journey includes her role as a Vogue contributor since March 2020. She shares insights on fashion, Africa, and her passionate advocacy for the continent through her distinctive and enchanting writing style.

The original project, MTINDO, was born as a passion project to shift the conversation and craft a new portrayal of the African continent. The result of the meaningful collaboration between Waridi and photographer Daniele Tamagni became a powerful book published by Skira in 2016, featuring gorgeous photographs capturing a new generation of ‘style movers’ in Africa.
